How to Feel Comfortable During Parent Dances

Parent dances are one of the most meaningful moments of a wedding reception, but they can also feel intimidating. For many couples and parents, the idea of standing in the spotlight while everyone watches can bring up nerves. At Ricki Lewis Events, we believe this moment should feel heartfelt, not stressful.

The best way to feel at ease is to have a clear plan. We help couples decide who will participate, when the dances will happen, how long each song should be, and how the transition will flow. Before the wedding day, we make sure your DJ or band has the correct song, your photo and video team is ready, and your family knows where to be.

We also help make the moment feel natural. Parent dances do not have to be long, choreographed, or overly formal. A simple sway, a shortened song, or inviting guests to join halfway through can make the experience more comfortable. If family dynamics are sensitive, we create a plan that honors your relationships.
